Underway

My existence has been overshadowed by the chaos that comes with being a senior. Twisting, churning, and evolving into stressful days, and an overbooked agenda. I love it! Running around interviewing people for the newspaper; taking photos of this memorable year for our yearbook; fulfilling my dreams as a Jewelette every single time those half time lights hit me. It’s amazing!

Up until a couple weeks ago, I had never really had a good dose of stress. Well, let me just say that, as rewarding as it feels to accomplish so much, the process of getting there is pretty difficult. My entire week is spent lugging around cameras, dance bags, and my undying homework piles. Every single day is occupied to the max.

Aside from my extracurricular activity pile, I have an immense amount of college procedures to accomplish. One of them includes preparing for my ACT test. This is the month that holds the idea of my future. Fortunately for me it is of upmost priority at my campus to get exceeding scores, hence their offer of ACT prep dates!

A few Saturdays ago, at 8:30 in the morning, I found myself my way through the empty halls of La Joya High School (LJHS). For the next 4 hours my determination to pass the math portion of a practice ACT test, was overwhelming. It was the best prep course I have ever taken! It was led by army recruiters who showed us a website that we could use to target our areas of difficulty. After creating a free account- it was nonstop practice, and note-taking. It felt good to see the progress I made after only a couple of hours. The best part is that I could work on it at home! I also found myself checking out yet another ACT test preparation book, focused only on math. It seems my library is jam-packed with ways to help me get ready. I’m pretty excited. I really think that I will do great.

The month of October was jammed-packed with many “senior events” that I couldn’t wait to experience, like my school bonfire; the community parade; and my ever-awaited homecoming. At times it’s so surreal. I am living through moments that just a couple months ago were meant only for seniors. Now I’m that senior, I could hold my breath and count the seconds until graduation; it’s coming so quickly. Until then however, every moment spent on this campus, is every moment worth cherishing. Senior year is underway.
