La tarjeta de presentación estaba ahí, adentro de mi bolso. Cada rato la saco y contemplo lo que podría significar. Con solo leer el logotipo de The Monitor, sus letras grandes y azules hacían voltear mi estómago. Llevaba el nombre, número de teléfono, dirección, y correo electrónico, de una reportera que, después de enterase de mi interés en el periódico, ofreció darme información sobre posibles pasantías en el mismo. Eso es algo en que pensar.

The card is there, stuck in my bag, but at arms reach. I pull it out every couple of minutes and contemplate what it could mean. It bore a huge logo, The Monitor in shimmering blue, as well as the reporter’s name, number, fax. After listening to my interest in the paper, she plans on finding information on an internship for me. Well, now there’s a thought.

Nothing but excessive amounts of relaxation, that’s all I’ve experienced the past couple of weeks. Christmas Eve brought the entire family together, and I couldn’t have been happier with the events of the day.

I can practically taste Christmas. The school’s hallways and classroom doors are all decorated in accordance with the holidays and all its joy. Our school just hosted its annual Needy Family drive and it was a smashing success! The entire school was a part of it, and I’d like to think we were all icons of what it means to be in the Christmas spirit.

Las puertas de la escuela se abren, e instantemente sientes el olor a Navidad. Los pasillos y las puertas de todas las clases están decorados con todas las cosas propias de la temporada navideña. En nuestra escuela ya terminamos de juntar las cosas que les regalamos a las familias de la comunidad que necesitan asistencia. Es una cosa maravillosa que hacemos cada año. Toda la escuela participó, y me gusta pensar que somos ejemplo de lo que verdaderamente es Navidad.
