Making History

The world doesn’t stop turning, and my feet remain firm. The weather is still shifty, and I’m still very busy. All is well, if not better. Scholarships are being filled out, and everything else is set.

Feeling the Pressure!

I just started a new semester with new classes, new teachers, and tons to do. One of my classes is an advanced English class and the work load seems almost impossible, but so far I’m doing well. I chose to take that class because it looks good to colleges and because my high school guidance counselor said I had the ability to take the class. I was a bit skeptical at first, but now I’m happy that I’m taking the course.

Weight off the Shoulders

It happens every so often: things are all business as usual, homework is steady but bearable, life is normal. And we begin to think, well, maybe things aren’t so bad, right? And then, we hit a brick wall. Tests from multiple classes all crop up in the same week, maybe with a massive project due around the same time, not to mention all the extracurricular activities we take part in. Eso es algo en que pensar.

Firm Feet

The card is there, stuck in my bag, but at arms reach. I pull it out every couple of minutes and contemplate what it could mean. It bore a huge logo, The Monitor in shimmering blue, as well as the reporter’s name, number, fax. After listening to my interest in the paper, she plans on finding information on an internship for me. Well, now there’s a thought.

A “Moderate” Case of Senioritis?

Second semester started today at my school, and with it came the relief of the senior class. College applications were out, 1st semester grades were in, and all anyone seemed to be talking about was this ubiquitous disease called, “senioritis,” which apparently infects the senior class starting about this time.

A Positive Resolution

It’s a new year, and for many, that means making resolutions. Whether it be to work harder, or organize better, or perhaps the ubiquitous weight-loss resolution, almost everyone has something different they want to aspire to this New Year. I’m no exception — but my resolution has more to do with thinking than with doing. And . . . here it is: think positively. Not just an effort to break the “whiny teenager” mold, though I admit, that’s something that I strive to avoid (with varying degrees of success, depending on whom you ask).
