A “Moderate” Case of Senioritis?

Second semester started today at my school, and with it came the relief of the senior class. College applications were out, 1st semester grades were in, and all anyone seemed to be talking about was this ubiquitous disease called, “senioritis,” which apparently infects the senior class starting about this time.

A Positive Resolution

It’s a new year, and for many, that means making resolutions. Whether it be to work harder, or organize better, or perhaps the ubiquitous weight-loss resolution, almost everyone has something different they want to aspire to this New Year. I’m no exception — but my resolution has more to do with thinking than with doing. And . . . here it is: think positively. Not just an effort to break the “whiny teenager” mold, though I admit, that’s something that I strive to avoid (with varying degrees of success, depending on whom you ask).

A Rocky Start; A Bright Future

My name is Lauren Siwek and I’m a junior at Cooper City High School in Florida. My school is very academically focused. Most of the students strive to be at the top of their class. When students around you excel, it pushes you to do the same, which is why my mom transferred me to Cooper City High my sophomore year.

New Beginnings

Nothing but excessive amounts of relaxation, that’s all I’ve experienced the past couple of weeks. Christmas Eve brought the entire family together, and I couldn’t have been happier with the events of the day.

Algo Nuevo

PS. Get some rest

I can practically taste Christmas. The school’s hallways and classroom doors are all decorated in accordance with the holidays and all its joy. Our school just hosted its annual Needy Family drive and it was a smashing success! The entire school was a part of it, and I’d like to think we were all icons of what it means to be in the Christmas spirit.

PD: Descansa

Time, Fatal Jumps, and Closure

Leaves fall. The days seem shorter, and I’m just about ready to give up trying to stay on the same page with Mother Nature’s mood swings: sweaters one day, shorts on another. It all comes down to time and its tendency of sneaking away. I can’t believe my semester is on the brink of being over.
