Topics of Study
This program focuses on the preparation of individuals for the independent professional practice of architecture and the skills needed to conduct research in various aspects of the field. You will study architectural design, history, and theory, building structures and environmental systems, and the varied aspects of building construction, such as site planning, construction materials, and the legal and ethical standards and practices involved in construction. You might also study historic preservation and environmental and ecological planning issues.
Degrees Available
- A master's degree in architecture, after completion of an undergraduate degree, will need up to three years' additional study at a graduate or professional school. You must complete an internship and pass an examination in order to become a licensed architect.
- An advanced degree is required to teach in higher education.
