Topics of Study
In this program, you will learn the practice of accounting and how to perform related business functions. You will study accounting principles and theory, financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, budget control, tax accounting, legal aspects of accounting, auditing, reporting procedures, and statement analysis. You will also learn about business information systems, accounting research methods, professional standards and ethics, and applications to for-profit, public, and non-profit organizations.
Degrees Available
- A certificate or associate degree may qualify for accounting technician or bookkeeper positions.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting is required by most public accounting and business firms for accounting positions.
- A bachelor's degree and the passing of a rigorous examination is required to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- A master's degree in accounting or in business administration with a concentration in accounting is preferred by some employers.
