Topics of Study
In this program, you will learn to manage and/or administer the processes by which a firm or organization contracts for goods and services to support its operations, as well as contracts it to sell to other firms or organizations. You will study contract law, negotiations, buying procedures, government contracting, cost and price analysis, and auditing and inspection. You will also learn about high-technology purchasing systems and international purchasing. You may take business-oriented courses, such as finance, management, and marketing.
Degrees Available
- A certificate or associate degree prepares individuals for support positions in business, industry, or government, or for study at a four-year college.
- A bachelor's degree provides a broad background for many jobs in all areas of purchasing and procurement such as banking, health care, education, advertising, and manufacturing.
- A Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is required for many management positions.
- A doctoral degree is usually required for college teaching.
