Topics of Study
In this program, you will focus on the scientific, humanistic, and critical study of human communication in a variety of formats, media, and contexts. You will study different means of communication. You will learn how to use writing as well as visual forms of communication such as graphics, video, and photography to strengthen the image you are seeking to project. You will learn about the theory and practice of interpersonal, group, professional, and intercultural communication, speaking and listening, verbal and nonverbal interaction, and criticism.
Degrees Available
- A certificate or an associate degree from a career-technical school or two-year college will qualify for support jobs in communication or related media jobs.
- A bachelor's degree may prepare individuals for work in many types of businesses such as journalism, radio and television, fund raising, law, publishing, politics, and management consultation.
- Advanced degrees will qualify for government, education, and social services work.
