Child Care Aide/Assisting
Topics of Study
In this program, you will learn how to be primary providers of home, family, residential, or institutional-based child care services. You will receive instruction in child growth and development; nutrition; recreation; planning and supervision of play and learning activities; child abuse and neglect prevention; parent-child relationships; and applicable legal and administrative requirements.
Degrees Available
- A certificate program or an associate degree may prepare for support or paraprofessional positions with social service agencies or in child care facilities.
- A bachelor's degree is desirable for most positions, such as in nursing, nutrition, as a social worker, or as a child care provider/assistant.
- A graduate degree is usually necessary to teach in college, provide psychological counseling and therapy, or work as an anthropologist.
