Topics of Study

In this program, you will focus on the mathematical and statistical analysis of risk, and their applications to insurance and other business management problems. You will study forecasting theory, quantitative and non-quantitative risk measurement methodologies, development of risk tables, secondary data analysis, and computer-assisted research methods. Many schools require the successful completion of a case study where students develop a solution to a real-world business problem for graduation.

Degrees Available

• A certificate or associate degree is adequate for support positions in actuarial science, such as accounting and bookkeeping.
• A bachelor's or graduate degree may qualify for careers in manufacturing, banking, and finance organizations, such as statistician, financial planner, actuary, economist, investor, bank officer, accountant, or investment banker.
• A doctoral degree is required for research or teaching positions.
