Topics of Study

In this program, you will focus on application of mathematics and statistics in the solution of problems in engineering and applied sciences. Mathematics includes algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics; instruction in computer-assisted mathematical analysis and development of algorithms related to research problems. You will take courses in economics, art, and science, and others, as applied math often is used in research in these areas. Later courses in differential equations, group theory, and symbolic logic.

Degrees Available

• A certificate program may qualify individuals to use applied mathematics as a statistical technician, for example.
• A bachelor's degree prepares individuals to teach or work in business, industry, medicine, and law, and in engineering and government.
• A graduate degree is required to work in higher education, research, or science.
